Training begins cuhhhhhhhhhh.

Yesterday was basically just another day of hanging out. We finished purchasing parts of the official boy scout uniform. In base camp I cannot wear my ICED OUT MONEY hat. So I went to the trading post (store at Philmont) and got a different hat. I was able to bend the bill to make it look like a flat bill so it is still very fly. But I will break out the ICED OUT MONEY hat the second I am in the backcountry.
Later on in the day, Jack and I decided to set up the slackline and within fifteen minutes of it being up, there were about 12 people there who all were getting on it. They all had lines themselves and worked in the backcountry so on my off days I wil be able to just chill with them and maybe slack a little. There was one guy named Steven who was absolutely amazing on the line. He was going crazy on it. He made any other slackliner I have ever seen in real life look like shit. He would lay on the line and do these crazy spins on it. very cool.
Tomorrow we begin out 6 day ranger hike. So today we went through the procedure of getting gear and splitting it up in our packs. We are grouped into Training Crews of 6 people. My group is pretty legit. There is actually a girl in there who is going to be a sophomore at OU too. I had never met here before though. All the other rangers in my TC had worked at Philmont before so I kind of got Jewed on the packing list. I have to put this huge ass tarp thing in my bag. But whatev. It will be tight.

Philmont preparation

So I guess I'm blogging now... feels kind of weird. I feel a bit like a tool but whatever...here it goes.

This entire last week I have been preparing for being a ranger up at Philmont which is a Boy Scout Camp in New Mexico. Being a ranger, I lead groups of mostly boy scouts and their dads for the first three days of their ten day backpacking treks. Basically, I make sure that they are capable of finishing the rest of their ten day treks by themselves. Seems like a pretty tight job to me but I guess I will find out pretty quickly.
I leave at 4 in the morning tomorrow so have been rushing to finish packingand buying the rest of my supplies. I think I am finished though. I just bought my last item. I needed a good hiking hat. Something that would keep the sun out of my face.

ICED OUT MONEY
I think I'm finally ready to get the hell out of tulsa and go to Philmont.
